Hamas Denies Reports of Disarming in Gaza Ceasefire Deal
The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has responded to recent reports about disarming under international supervision as part of a Gaza ceasefire agreement.
An important meeting is set to take place today in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where representatives from Hamas, Egypt, and Israel will discuss the Gaza ceasefire, the release of hostages, Gaza’s governing system, and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope that the meeting will produce positive results and help resolve the Middle East conflict, which has lasted for over 3,000 years.
While some Arab media reports claimed that Hamas had agreed to hand over weapons under international supervision for the ceasefire, Turkish media quoted Hamas strongly denying these claims. Hamas stated they are not considering any points related to disarming under international supervision.
Earlier, President Trump had proposed a 20-point formula for the Gaza ceasefire, to which Hamas had shown agreement on several points. However, Hamas insists that Gaza’s administration should be handed over to an interim government made up of Palestinian technocrats.
