Tensions Rise Over Gaza Ceasefire as US Sidelines Israel in Decision-Making

10 November, 2025 12:29

Washington: Disagreements between the United States and Israel over the Gaza ceasefire and post-war administration have intensified, with reports suggesting that Washington has reduced Israel’s role in key decision-making processes.

According to the Times of Israel, a senior Israeli official revealed that the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) in Gaza is now primarily led by the United States, and most decisions are being made with Washington’s approval.

The coordination center was established under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which proposes the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) to take control of Gaza after Israeli troop withdrawal. The ISF will reportedly consist of about 20,000 soldiers with a two-year mandate, operating under UN authorization.

While the US will not send its own troops, discussions are ongoing with countries such as Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, the UAE, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan to contribute forces. However, Israel has objected to Turkey’s potential participation, and several Arab nations remain cautious due to concerns about possible clashes with Hamas.

The United States has also incorporated its peace plan into a UN resolution, which states that Gaza’s administration will eventually be transferred from the “Board of Peace” to the Palestinian Authority, once it completes a required reform program.

Amid these developments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly said, “I recommend President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize,” referring to his efforts in shaping the Gaza peace framework.
