As Pakistani actress Saba Qamar receives widespread support from her peers over her action against journalist Naeem Hanif for a “baseless” claim, veteran actress Meera has taken a surprising stance.
Taking to Instagram, the 48-year-old actress defended Hanif, calling him a “credible figure” and warning Saba not to cross him. Meera wrote, “Naeem Hanif is a credible figure in Pakistani media, known primarily as a journalist, political analyst, and a union leader and President of the Punjab Union of Journalists. Saba Qamar has messed with the wrong person; Naeem Hanif is a man of principles. After Case No. 9, this will be the final case.”

Her comments quickly drew backlash on social media. One user wrote, “Meera jee, aik single woman ki character assassination krna kisi ko b zaib nahi deta. Na apko na iss looser ko. Sad to see u r supporting him.” Another remarked, “look who is saying. Meera already said against Saba in an interview. she is only supporting this man to take her own grudge.”
A third comment read, “If Naeem Hanif is telling the truth about Saba, then he must have had some reference or proof before speaking… But still blaming everyone is not right and if Hanif has put a false allegation then there should be punishment. This is case #10.”
Meanwhile, Saba Qamar shared disturbing remarks made by Hanif about actresses Fiza Ali, Sana Javed, and slain TikToker Sana Yousuf, pointing out that he had made offensive statements even about a murdered girl. Meera’s statement and the ensuing debate have ignited intense discussion across social media regarding accountability and support within the Pakistani entertainment industry.
