Jordan’s King Abdullah II Visits Pakistan’s Defence Headquarters and Tilla Ranges

King Abdullah II of Jordan and Princess Salma bint Abdullah visited Pakistan’s Global Industries and Defence Solutions (GIDS) headquarters, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s advancements in defence production, technology, and potential avenues for bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The visit also included a demonstration of multidomain military drills at the Tilla Field Firing Ranges.

Accompanied by senior Jordanian officials, King Abdullah II was received by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and other senior military officials. According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the royal delegation was provided with an extensive briefing on the capabilities and structure of GIDS, showcasing Pakistan’s growing proficiency in indigenous defence production and technological innovations.

During the briefing, the focus was placed on the ongoing defence cooperation between Pakistan and Jordan and the potential for expanding these ties. The discussions underscored mutual interests in defence technology and how both countries can collaborate in strengthening regional security.

Later, King Abdullah II and the visiting dignitaries proceeded to Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where a joint military exercise was conducted. The multidomain exercise featured a range of operations, including conventional warfare, air firepower, and spectrum warfare capabilities, all coordinated with the support of multi-purpose drones. The demonstration highlighted the high level of operational readiness and military professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces.

King Abdullah II praised the training standards and operational preparedness of the Pakistani troops and aircrews involved in the exercises. He acknowledged their competence and readiness, underscoring the importance of such exercises in enhancing military capabilities.

At the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his respect and admiration for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan. He noted that the visit further solidifies the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between the two nations, reaffirming a shared commitment to peace and regional stability.

In a notable gesture, King Abdullah II conferred the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree upon Field Marshal Asim Munir in recognition of his exceptional service and the strengthening of military cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan.

This visit, part of a two-day official tour, marks a key milestone in the deepening of ties between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, reflecting the historic bonds of fraternity and brotherhood that continue to grow between the two countries.
