Rana Sanaullah Announces 28th Constitutional Amendment
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has announced that the 28th Constitutional Amendment will soon be introduced.
Speaking to the media in Chiniot, he said the government is preparing to present the amendment shortly.
Comments on Judges Opposing the 27th Amendment
Rana Sanaullah criticized judges who opposed the 27th Amendment.
He stated that if the judges disagreed with the amendment, they should have resigned on the same day, but they chose not to.
He said that:
- Passing amendments is the right of Parliament
- Judges have taken an oath to protect their office
- Some judges who resigned acted based on personal motives
He added that a judge should not use his position for political protest.
Focus of the 28th Amendment
Rana Sanaullah said the upcoming 28th Amendment will deal with public issues.
He also confirmed that the Punjab government has decided to hold local body elections soon.
The Local Government Act has already been passed by the provincial assembly, and work on delimitation is underway.
