Israeli Treacherous Airstrikes Martyr Commander Tabatabai, Four Resistance Heroes

Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance group, has formally acknowledged that its top leader, Haytham Ali Tabatabai, was Martyred in a catastrophic Israeli airstrike on Sunday in Beirut’s southern suburb.

Commander Tabatabai and four other resistance fighters were Martyred in “a treacherous Israeli attack,” according to a statement issued by the resistance group on Sunday night.

“With pride and honor, Hezbollah announces to the people of the resistance and to our Lebanese people the martyrdom of the great jihadi commander Haitham Ali al-Tabtabai (Sayyed Abu Ali), who rose to martyrdom in sacrifice for Lebanon and its people following a treacherous Israeli attack on Haret Hreik in Beirut’s southern suburb,” Hezbollah added.

The resistance group commended him for his steadfast commitment to the resistance movement, pointing out that he had played a crucial role in strengthening it since its beginning.

Hezbollah stated that Tabatabai’s martyrdom would inspire renewed hope and determination among resistance fighters, promising to continue the struggle against the “Zionist enemy and its patron, America.”

The group extended condolences to the families of the martyred commander and to all supporters of the resistance, calling for patience and comfort during this time of loss.

“We extend our condolences and congratulations to the Master of the Age (may God hasten his reappearance), to his fellow fighters and resistance members, to our steadfast and patient resistance supporters, and to all free people in the world on the martyrdom of this great jihadist commander and the martyrs who rose with him,” Hezbollah continued.

“We also address their honorable families, asking God Almighty to grant them patience and comfort and to grant the wounded a speedy recovery,” the group concluded.

The Israeli strike on residential apartments in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh on Sunday Martyred at least five people, including Commander Tabatabai, and wounded 28 others.

“With great pride and honor, the Islamic Resistance exalts the martyr fighter Qassem Hussein Barjawi, Malak, born in 1979, from the town of Al-Bashoura in Beirut and a resident of the Bir Al-Abed area in the southern suburbs, who was martyred in defense of Lebanon and its people following a treacherous Israeli aggression on the Haret Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut,” Hezbollah said in the second statement.

In the third statement, Hezbollah announced the martyrdom of resistance fighter Mustafa As’ad Berro, known as Hajj Hassan, born in 1989, from the town of Shmestar in Bekaa and a resident of the city of Beirut.

In the fourth statement, Hezbollah mentioned the martyrdom of resistance fighter Rifa’at Ahmed Hussein “Abu Ali,” who was born in 1982.

In the last statement, Hezbollah announced the martyrdom of resistance fighter Ibrahim Ali Hussein “Amir,” who was born in 1990, from the town of Aitaroun and a resident of the town of Hariss in South Lebanon.

Israel’s aggression has reignited the global debate over the US-Israel partnership and its role in sustaining violence in Lebanon, as well as Washington’s complicity in Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.

The United States has long provided Israel with extensive military, financial, and diplomatic support—including advanced weaponry, intelligence sharing, and political protection at the United Nations.

According to analysts, Washington’s backing enables Israel to carry out airstrikes and broader military campaigns in the region with little accountability.

Regarding the Israeli strike, two high-ranking US officials offered their opinions. According to the first official, Israel did not give Americans advance notice of the operation. “We were informed immediately after the strike was carried out.”

A second senior official stated that the “US knew for several days that Israel was planning to escalate its strikes in Lebanon but did not know in advance the timing, location, or target of the strike.”
