04 December, 2025 11:42

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has denied that the man arrested in Delaware, United States, is a Pakistani citizen. According to the FO spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Luqman Khan, is an Afghan national, not Pakistani.

Earlier reports said that 25-year-old Luqman Khan was arrested on the night of 24 November. Police in Canby Park West stopped a truck in which he was present. Officers said Luqman did not obey commands to step out and resisted arrest.

During the search of the truck, authorities reportedly recovered a pistol, magazines, and documents allegedly showing a plan for an attack. The papers included a sketch of the University of Delaware Police Station, marked entry and exit points, and the name of a police officer.

The FBI raided his home on 25 November, one day after his arrest. Reports said they found more advanced weapons during the raid.

Earlier, US authorities had claimed that Luqman Khan was a Pakistani-American student planning an attack on the university police department. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has firmly rejected these claims and confirmed that the suspect is Afghan with no links to Pakistan.
