Sindh Assembly moves to raise speed limit on Shahrah-e-Faisal
A resolution has been submitted in the Sindh Assembly to increase the speed limit on Karachi’s busiest road, Shahrah e Faisal.
MQM MPAs Syed Usman and Naseer Ahmed filed the resolution. Syed Usman suggested raising the current speed limit from 60 kilometers per hour (km/h) to 80 km/h. He said that Shahrah e Faisal is an extremely busy highway, and increasing the speed limit is necessary.
The resolution also recommends consulting traffic experts and implementing proper safety measures before making any changes.
It is important to note that after the introduction of the E-Challan system in Karachi, speed limit signboards have already been installed on Shahrah e Faisal. Currently, according to DSP Admin Kashif Nadeem, the speed limit for cars, jeeps, and similar vehicles remains at 60 km/h.
The proposal aims to balance traffic flow and road safety while addressing the needs of commuters on one of Karachi’s main roads.
