Goods Transporters Announce Countrywide Strike From Dec 11

Karachi: Goods Transporters Associations have announced a complete strike across the country from tomorrow and said that the strike will continue until their demands are approved.

According to details, the Local Goods Transporters Associations have announced a complete strike across the country, which will come into effect tomorrow.

The association said that transport operations and loading and unloading at all ports will be completely halted during the closure.

President of the Transporters Goods Association, Malik Shahzad, said that the strike will continue until the demands are approved and that they will not back down from their demands.

Malik Shahzad said that the government should take note; transporters are protesting. What does the government want us to do—to completely shut down our business?

He demanded that the government take immediate steps to resolve the problems of transporters.

The strike in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has also affected the delivery of food items, and many trucks and containers have been parked.

The President of Goods Transport said that the government is responsible for the disruption in the timely delivery of essential goods.

Tariq Gujjar, president of the Local Goods Transporters Association, said that after complete consensus in the meeting, it was decided to go on strike, and loading, unloading, and other transport operations will be closed across the country from tomorrow.

Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Shakeel Qureshi said that the Transport Minister had assured him that he would resolve the issues during the talks; however, the Punjab government denied progress in the talks through a tweet.

He made it clear that the protest will continue until the demands are approved, and the transporters will not back down from the strike until they get their rights.
