PCB Completes Technical Review for Two New PSL Franchises
The technical review of the bids received for two new franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been completed.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, 12 bids were received from around the world for the acquisition of new teams, out of which 10 bids were declared eligible after scrutiny, as they met the technical criteria. The eligible parties will now participate in the auction phase.
The PCB has announced that the auction for two new teams will be held in Islamabad on January 8, 2026. Successful bidders will have the option of choosing the name of one of the cities for the franchise: Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Sialkot.
PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer says that the strong interest from local and foreign investors is welcome and the expansion of the PSL is moving towards a major milestone. According to him, more details regarding the auction of the teams will be released soon.
