Punjab boards cut Class 11 English syllabus for 2026 exams
RAWALPINDI: The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Punjab have given relief to Class 11 (Intermediate Part 1) students by reducing the English syllabus for the annual exams 2026.
To make learning easier, four units have been removed from the compulsory English-11 textbook. This step will help students focus better on the remaining ten units and prepare well for their exams.
Units Removed from English Syllabus
The following four units will not be included in the exams:
Unit 4: Team Moon (Pages 42 to 55)
Unit 7: What You Do is What You Are (Pages 82 to 94)
Unit 9: Freedom (Poem) (Pages 105 to 113)
Unit 12: The Impact of AI on Society, Human Relationships, and Ethics (Pages 131 to 138)
The Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority has directed teachers not to teach these units. Students have also been advised to study only the remaining ten units.
All nine Punjab boards have instructed their paper setters not to include any questions from the excluded units in both objective and subjective parts of the exam.
Class 11 English Exam Pattern
The English paper will have two parts:
Objective section: 20 marks (30 minutes)
Subjective section: 80 marks (2.5 hours)
This change is expected to reduce pressure on students and improve their understanding of the subject.
