Fire Erupts at Liaquat Bazaar Market in Quetta

20 January, 2026 09:57

A significant fire broke out at a market in Quetta’s Liaquat Bazaar, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. According to the Chief Fire Officer, fire brigade personnel reached the site shortly after the alarm was raised. Currently, three fire brigade vehicles are actively working to extinguish the blaze, which has already engulfed the second floor of the plaza.

Electrical Complications and Utility Response

The fire has caused dangerous electrical issues within the building, and a nearby transformer was also affected. In response, officials from the Quetta Electric Supply Company (Kesco) have cut off electricity to the affected area to prevent further hazards and allow rescuers to work safely. The Chief Fire Officer noted that the fire caused electricity to spread through the structure, complicating the firefighting efforts.

Evacuation and Emergency Measures

In addition to battling the flames, rescue teams are focused on minimizing property damage. Personnel are currently removing vehicles parked in the plaza’s basement parking lot to protect them from the spreading fire and potential structural failure. Emergency operations remain ongoing as crews work to contain the fire within the multi-story complex.
