Pakistani Stars React with Grief After Tragic Gul Plaza Fire

Karachi’s famous commercial centre, Gul Plaza, was destroyed by a horrific fire that swallowed billions of rupees’ worth of property and claimed several lives.

The incident occurred on Saturday night and took nearly 36 hours to bring under control. Currently, the condition of the plaza building is devastated, with two sides already collapsed.

Many shopkeepers and shoppers who had come for shopping were trapped inside the building and are still missing, while their families continue to wait anxiously for news of whether their loved ones are alive or dead.

Everyone who watched the news was moved to tears and expressed heartfelt prayers for the victims. Pakistani stars also reacted, sharing messages of grief and prayers for the affected families.

Superstar Mahira Khan shared her anguish over the tragic incident, saying, “Heartbreaking. The more I watch videos coming out of this tragedy, the angrier I feel. Helpless too. I have been to Gul Plaza, and even getting out on a normal day is tough with the kind of exits they have. How does one compensate for this?”

Hania Aamir reacted to the devastating incident by sharing a story that read, “Devastating. This should never happen,” adding, “It’s a reminder of how negligence, ignored safety, and silence cost real people their futures.”

Actress Shehar Khan said she was “shaken” by the tragic news, describing it as a “painful trial.” She urged the Sindh government “to take this matter seriously and ensure fair compensation for all those who have suffered losses.”

Actress Momina Iqbal questioned the government over inadequate safety measures and also criticised the public for being preoccupied with discussions about the recent lavish wedding of one of Pakistan’s most influential families.

Actor Danish Taimoor expressed his deep condolences and offered prayers for those affected by the Gul Plaza fire.
