Shab-e-Barat holiday update: What you need to know

29 January, 2026 12:33

ISLAMABAD: Authorities have not yet announced any holiday for schools or colleges on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, which is expected to fall on February 3.

Last year, the Sindh government had declared a holiday for educational institutions on Shab-e-Barat. However, so far, no decision has been made for this year by Sindh or any other province.

Officials say that if a holiday is approved, a formal notification will be issued to inform students, parents, and teachers. Until then, educational institutions will continue as per normal schedules.

Shab-e-Barat is observed every year across Pakistan on the 15th night of Sha’ban. The night holds great religious importance for Muslims. On this occasion, special prayers, Quran recitations, and religious gatherings are held in mosques and other places to mark the significance of the night.

People spend the night in worship, seeking forgiveness and blessings, while mosques arrange seminars and religious events to highlight the spiritual value of Shab-e-Barat.
