Akshay Kumar Back on His TV Journey ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently returned to television after nearly a decade, taking on the role of host for Sony TV’s Wheel of Fortune.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, he said, “The moment that truly spun the wheel of fortune in my life, I believe, was the day I chose discipline over comfort.” “There wasn’t one magical spin, but a series of choices that slowly changed my life.”

In an interview with PTI, Akshay spoke about his connection with television, the special bond it makes with the audience, what hosting means to him, and provided additional insights about Wheel of Fortune.

Akshay Kumar added that over the years, classic television formats and their hosts have not merely amused audiences. They have fostered trust, brought generations together, and created times where families sit, play along, and celebrate successes together.

Speaking about his new show, Wheel of Fortune, he added that it feels like ‘coming home’ to that family audience, the kind that gathers after a long day to relax, enjoy, and share these moments together.

Wheel of Fortune, the show, follows a simple yet exciting word-puzzle format. Contestants are given hidden words or phrases and must guess the correct letters to solve them. A large spinning wheel—divided into cash values and special wedges—decides how much each correct letter is worth. Players take turns spinning the wheel, guessing letters, and gradually uncovering the puzzle. The contestant who cracks the puzzle and scores the highest walks away with the cash prize.

Wheel of Fortune will air on Sony Entertainment Television from Monday to Friday at 9 pm. Viewers can also stream the episodes on Sony LIV.
