Public Holiday Announced on 7th February 2026

JAMSHORO: The Jamshoro district administration has declared a local holiday on Friday, February 7, for the annual Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Deputy Commissioner Gazanfar Ali Chaudhry issued an official notification stating that all educational institutions in Jamshoro will remain closed on that day. This is to help devotees and ensure smooth arrangements for the celebrations.

The announcement comes during a season of religious, cultural, and regional observances in Pakistan. For example, February 5 is observed nationwide as Kashmir Solidarity Day, and the Punjab government recently declared holidays for Basant festivities.

The three-day Urs in Sehwan Sharif attracts millions of devotees from across Pakistan and abroad. It is one of the largest religious gatherings in the country and features traditional dhamaal, prayers, and spiritual rituals at the shrine of the 13th-century Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Authorities have announced plans for security, traffic management, and public facilitation to handle the large number of pilgrims expected during the event.

With these consecutive public holidays, including national, cultural, and religious observances, February has become a festive month in many parts of Pakistan.
