Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has stated that although there has been widespread discussion following the team’s defeat to India, the squad remains focused on winning the World Cup rather than dwelling on a single match.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo after Pakistan’s 102-run victory over Namibia national cricket team, Shadab emphasized that the team did not take the match lightly. He admitted that Pakistan should have won against India but stressed that judging the entire campaign based on one game would be unfair.
He noted that former cricketers have the right to express their opinions and acknowledged their legendary status. However, he added that the current team has also delivered strong performances in major tournaments and has previously defeated India in World Cup competitions.
Shadab said the team is committed to following its process and continuing the positive aspects of its performance so far.
Highlighting the importance of batting consistency, he praised Sahibzada Farhan for his excellent form and valuable contributions to the team. He also pointed out that the Super 8 stage will be more challenging, with high-pressure matches ahead.
The all-rounder further explained that strategies are adjusted according to conditions and should not be labeled as experiments. He added that in modern T20 cricket, the role of all-rounders has become increasingly crucial.
