Iran warns of firm self-defense amid ongoing US-Israeli aggression
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has vowed that Tehran will continue self-defense measures as long as US-Israeli military actions persist in the region.
Speaking at a press briefing at the UN Security Council, Iravani emphasized that Iran’s strikes target only combatant forces of hostile powers. He clarified, “We do not target civilians or the interests of neighboring countries.”
The Iranian envoy stressed that Tehran is not seeking war or escalation but will not compromise its sovereignty. “While the violation persists, Iran will act swiftly and resolutely to protect itself,” Iravani said.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned recent attacks on a hospital and a school, stating that such strikes “strike at life itself” and endanger the Iranian nation.
Since Saturday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army have conducted retaliatory attacks against US military bases across West Asia and Israeli-occupied territories. These moves come after what Iran has described as an unprovoked war of aggression by the United States and Israel.
Officials in Tehran have reiterated that civilian areas and neighboring countries will not be targeted, emphasizing that all military actions are defensive in nature.
