China Opposes U.S.-Israeli Strikes on Iran, Urges Immediate Halt

03 March, 2026 21:17

China has firmly opposed the recent U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran, calling for an immediate halt to military operations and warning that the use of force will only exacerbate the regional crisis. In a phone call on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed his country’s strong stance to his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Saar, emphasizing that military strikes “cannot truly solve problems” and often lead to further instability.

According to state media reports, Wang made it clear that China rejects “any military strikes launched by Israel and the United States against Iran.” He stated that the real value of military power lies not in the battlefield but in preventing war, underscoring Beijing’s preference for diplomatic solutions over force.

Additionally, in a separate conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Wang urged restraint while condemning the recent killing of Ayatollah Khamenei. He also advised Tehran to address the “legitimate concerns” of its neighboring countries.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated China’s opposition to the U.S.-Israeli military actions, labeling the strikes as violations of international law that have significantly heightened tensions in the Middle East.

On Iran’s nuclear program, Mao emphasized China’s ongoing concern, reaffirming its support for a peaceful, negotiated resolution and stating that Beijing “respects” Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy within the framework of international agreements.
