Donald Trump Announces Insurance Support for Strait of Hormuz Ships

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the federal government will provide political risk insurance and financial guarantees for commercial ships currently stuck in or transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

This measure, directed through the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), aims to stabilize global energy markets after private insurers withdrew “war risk” coverage following recent strikes.

The president further declared that the U.S. Navy is prepared to provide direct escorts and security squads to oil tankers and cargo vessels if necessary. “No matter what, the United States will ensure the free flow of energy to the world,” Trump stated, emphasizing that American military and economic power would be used to keep the critical waterway open despite threats from regional adversaries.
