Sindh CM Announces 90-Day Special Concession for Prisoners Ahead of Eid
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced a special 90-day concession in sentences for eligible prisoners on the occasion of Eid, emphasizing a gesture of humanitarian relief. According to the CM, “Saza yafta qaidiyon ko Eid ke moqa par saza mein 90 din ki maafi di jaye gi,” confirming that prisoners who meet specific conditions will benefit from the reduction.
The concession will not apply to prisoners involved in terrorism, espionage, or activities against the state, nor to those convicted of severe crimes such as murder, rape, and kidnapping for ransom. Additionally, prisoners sentenced for robbery, looting, or financial embezzlement cases will also remain ineligible for this reduction, as clarified by Murad Ali Shah.
For life-term prisoners, the concession will not affect the mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, ensuring that the legal framework remains intact. The reduction will only be granted to prisoners who fully comply with jail regulations under Rule 789, reinforcing discipline within correctional facilities.
Murad Ali Shah highlighted that the decision was made on the basis of humanitarian grounds, intending to extend relief during the festive season while maintaining strict adherence to laws and public safety. Authorities have been instructed to implement the concession systematically, ensuring that eligible prisoners benefit without compromising legal and security standards.
