Iran Files UN Protest Against Four Arab States Over Attacks

01 April, 2026 14:51

Iran has vehemently denounced the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait’s use of their airspace and territory in recent US and Israeli attacks against the nation, urging the four Arab nations to maintain cordial ties and stop using their territory against Iran in the future.

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, stated in separate letters to the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General on Tuesday that states are accountable under international law if their territory is made available for acts of aggression or armed attacks against a third country.

Iran “firmly calls on the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait to observe the principles of good-neighborliness and prevent the continued use of their territory against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Iravani wrote. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed its strong and unequivocal protest against these unlawful actions.”

Iran said in the letters that it reserves the right to take “all necessary and appropriate measures,” including the exercise of its “inherent right of self-defense,” to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence, even though it is still dedicated to the principles of good-neighborly relations and respect for the sovereignty of the four nations.

Tehran claimed that in March, military activities against Iran were frequently planned, prepared for, supported, and carried out using the airspace and territory of the four nations.

Iran stated in its letter on the United Arab Emirates that strikes and intelligence operations against Iranian land were carried out by US airplanes, drones, surveillance aircraft, and, occasionally, Emirati aircraft operating from or through Emirati airspace.

These episodes, according to Tehran, showed a persistent pattern of illegal use of Emirati airspace and territory to enable military action against Iran.
