KARACHI: Citizens of Karachi have been informed by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) that no new rain-bearing system is expected in the city. The likelihood of showers or heavy rainfall has ended, and the upcoming weather is expected to remain dry and pleasant.

Weather Update and Forecast

Deputy Director of PMD, Anjum Nazir, stated that the weather system responsible for the recent rainfall has now shifted to upper northern areas of Pakistan. Residents of Karachi can expect clear skies and stable weather for the coming days.

The PMD also released detailed rainfall data for April 2 and 3, 2026, showing the heaviest precipitation in Nazimabad at 97.4mm. Other notable measurements included:

  • Surjani Town: 67mm
  • Keamari: 66mm
  • Gulistan-e-Johar: 49.9mm
  • Orangi Town: 53.6mm
  • Jinnah Terminal: 43.6mm
  • North Karachi: 43.8mm
  • PAF Masroor Base: 40mm (lowest)

Impact on the City

With the system having moved away, risks of waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas have significantly decreased. Citizens can now resume their normal daily activities without weather-related disruptions.

The recent rainfall has also reduced the heat, bringing a pleasant chill to the city. Residents expressed hope that the traffic and drainage management during future rainfall would improve, following lessons from the recent downpours.
