France Confirms No Offensive Weapons Supplied to Israel Amid Escalating Iran Conflict

05 April, 2026 17:44

France has reaffirmed that it is not supplying offensive weapons to Israel amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, according to French Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin.

In a statement shared on social media, Vautrin clarified, “No, France is not supplying arms to Israel. It (in the context of the anti-Iran onslaught) authorizes the sale of components intended for integration into air defense systems, such as the Iron Dome, and equipment intended exclusively for re-export, some of which is needed by our own armed forces.”

The statement comes shortly after French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that France would not take part in any military aggression against Iran alongside the United States and Israel.

Macron’s remarks triggered a strong reaction from Israel, with Israeli Ambassador to Paris Joshua Zarqa stating that France could no longer be viewed as a reliable ally.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to rise in the region following a large-scale military campaign launched by the United States and Israel against Iran earlier this year. The conflict has intensified with retaliatory missile and drone strikes by Iranian forces targeting US and Israeli interests across West Asia.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also criticized France, accusing it of failing to clearly condemn the military actions against Iran.

The situation remains volatile, with diplomatic relations and regional stability facing increasing pressure amid the ongoing hostilities.
