Iran Claims New Weapon Will Shock Adversaries, Navy Chief Says

30 April, 2026 10:20

Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani has stated that the Islamic Republic will soon reveal a new weapon that its adversaries are “deeply afraid of.”

“And it is right next to them [too],” he noted on Wednesday, adding, “I hope they won’t have a heart attack.”

The commander said that Iran’s enemies had mistakenly believed their recent military actions against the country would quickly achieve their goals. However, he claimed those assumptions have now become “a joke in military academies.”

He also referenced Iran’s naval response operations during recent conflicts, stating that Iranian forces conducted multiple missile strikes targeting the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln.

According to Irani, these operations disrupted the carrier’s ability to launch aircraft and conduct air missions for a period of time.

He further explained that during the broader confrontation, Iran carried out extensive retaliatory strikes across the region, targeting American and Israeli-linked positions.

Facing the escalation, the United States reportedly launched missile attacks from naval platforms and deployed additional destroyers to strengthen its operations.

“Even so, they remain stalled,” Irani stated.

The commander also discussed Iran’s control measures over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, stating that access has been restricted for enemy-linked vessels following continued maritime tensions.

“If they move any closer, we will take operational action without delay,” he said, warning of immediate response to further escalation.

Despite restrictions, he noted that some maritime traffic continues through Iranian ports under regulated conditions.

Irani strongly criticized US actions against Iranian vessels, describing them as unlawful and accusing Washington of “piracy” and “hostage-taking.”

“They have taken crewmembers and their families hostage aboard ships,” he stated, adding, “The Americans are worse than Somali pirates, because Somali pirates acted out of poverty, but these have added hostage-taking” to their actions.

The commander emphasized that Iran’s armed forces remain committed to responding to aggression, stating they are determined to avenge national losses “to the last drop of our blood.”

“We will afflict a regret-inducing blow to them,” he concluded.
