Iran Says Strait of Hormuz Developments Confirm “No Military Solution” to West Asia Political Crisis
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has reiterated that recent developments in the Strait of Hormuz have once again demonstrated that “no military solution to political crisis” exists in West Asia. He emphasized that Iran continues to pursue diplomacy from a position of strength while maintaining full defensive readiness.
In a post shared on X on Monday night, Araghchi noted that indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States are progressing steadily, crediting Pakistan for its “gracious efforts” in facilitating constructive mediation. He praised Islamabad’s role as highly effective and aligned with regional calls for peaceful engagement.
“As talks are making progress thanks to Pakistan’s gracious efforts, the U.S. should be wary of being dragged back into a quagmire by ill-wishers. So should the UAE,” the Iranian Foreign Minister stated.
He also dismissed Washington’s naval initiative “Project Freedom,” aimed at increasing military pressure in the Strait of Hormuz, labeling it instead as “Project Deadlock.” According to Araghchi, such strategies only reinforce the failure of force-based approaches in resolving regional disputes.
The Iranian Foreign Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the strategic waterway, where Tehran maintains strong defensive control and insists that external pressure or intimidation cannot change political realities. He further stressed that sustainable regional security depends on mutual respect, sovereignty, and dialogue without sanctions or military threats.
Iran has repeatedly expressed openness to result-oriented negotiations, provided they are free from preconditions and external interference. Officials in Tehran continue to highlight that the era of “gunboat diplomacy” has ended, and that regional stability can only be achieved through diplomacy.
