Field Marshal Asim Munir Meets Iranian FM

Chief of the Pakistani Army Field Marshal Asim Munir, who has traveled to Tehran for discussions with Iranian officials, met on Friday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to advance diplomatic initiatives as a meditator in Iran-US peace pact efforts.

The meeting took place on Friday and continued late into the night.

The two sides exchanged views on the latest diplomatic efforts and initiatives to prevent further escalation and end the US and Israeli aggression against Iran, as well as strategies to strengthen peace, stability, and security in the West Asia region.

The Pakistani Army’s Public Relations Department announced Munir’s arrival in Tehran in a brief statement on Friday evening.

The Pakistani Army chief and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by Eskandar Momeni, Iran’s Minister of Interior. Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Minister of Interior, was also present at the welcoming ceremony.

The Pakistani Army described the purpose of Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit as part of ongoing mediation efforts.
