Iran Retaliatory Missile and Drone Operations Leave Trump Bewildered
Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone operations against US military positions have left US President Donald Trump confused and bewildered, according to Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Parliament.
Speaking on Thursday, Azizi claimed that the withdrawal of American forces from the Persian Gulf region, the targeting of US military bases, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have dealt a significant setback to Washington. He stated that these developments reflect what he described as a major defeat for the United States during the ongoing tensions and military confrontations involving Iran.
“The crushing blows and strong retaliation of the Armed Forces and the great nation of Iran have confused and bewildered the US president,” Azizi said.
The senior lawmaker argued that President Trump’s recent actions and statements demonstrate frustration and inconsistency, which he attributed to what he described as a lack of strategic planning by US officials. According to Azizi, the United States and its allies failed to achieve their stated objectives during the June 2025 conflict and the subsequent 40-day military escalation against Iran.
He further claimed that Iran’s resistance and national unity have forced its adversaries to reconsider their policies and alter their approach. However, he asserted that opposing forces continue attempting to offset their losses through what he characterized as sudden decisions and aggressive measures.
Azizi also stated that Iran has strengthened its military, political, and economic standing, emphasizing that the country has effectively utilized its strategic capabilities. He credited the Iranian Armed Forces and the nation’s cohesion for disrupting the calculations of their opponents and creating uncertainty within US leadership.
“The Iranian nation and Armed Forces have disrupted the enemy’s calculations, thanks to their decisive responses. This has caused confusion and knee-jerk reactions from the US side,” he added.
The remarks came after President Donald Trump reportedly ordered a new round of military action against Iran despite an existing ceasefire. Trump later stated that US forces launched 49 Tomahawk missiles during the operation.
In response, Iranian armed forces reportedly carried out missile and drone strikes targeting US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait, further escalating regional tensions.
