Trump Warns Iran to Stop Proxies in Lebanon From “Causing Trouble”

US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran must put a stop to its proxy groups in Lebanon, accusing them of stirring up “trouble” in the country.

Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Tehran “must immediately stop their highly paid proxies in Lebanon from causing trouble.” He warned that failure to do so would prompt the United States to “hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder.”

His full post read: “Iran must immediately stop their highly paid proxies in Lebanon from causing trouble. If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!”

Vance Strikes a Different Tone

The warning came even as US Vice President JD Vance offered a more conciliatory message, saying the United States and Iran are now positioned to work towards a future of peace and prosperity. His comments came as technical-level talks between the two countries got underway in Switzerland on Sunday.

Vance said both nations now see a path where cooperation is possible, aimed at building peace and prosperity. He noted that Trump himself had called for relations with Iran to “turn over a new leaf.”

The contrast between Trump’s hardline message on Lebanon and Vance’s more hopeful framing of the Switzerland talks highlights the delicate balance both sides are navigating as negotiations continue.
