Karachi Content Creator Killed During Family Road Trip in Balochistan

On Sunday, another deadly event happened on the National Highway, a Karachi resident was killed and his wife critically injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in the Dasht area on the outskirts of Quetta.

The victim identify a person who lives in Karachi Ali Jameel owned a mobile phone business, had travelled to Quetta with his wife and two daughters, the family was returning home on Friday night when they reportedly lost their way after a navigation app directed them onto the wrong route and ended with engaged in shot dead in an armed attack.

Businessman Ali Jameel and his wife funeral prayers were offered at Rehmania Mosque on Tariq Road on Sunday.

After leaving the National Highway, the family accidentally drove into the Kand area of Dasht, where armed men attempted to stop them by signalling their car. When the family did not stop, the armed men opened fire. He was killed instantly, his wife was wounded, while their two daughters remained safe.

On Sunday the victim’s body was brought to Karachi, where victims family member, friends and relatives and members of the business community attended the funeral prayers.

The incident stimulated strong condemnation from different segments of society.

The Mobile and Electronics Dealers Association of Karachi and Sindh President of Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) Haleem Adil Sheikh called the killing unacceptable and urged authorities to take swift action against those responsible. And described the killing as a “national tragedy” and said Ali Jameel was simply travelling with his family when a wrong turn led to the fatal attack.

Sheikh noted that digital navigation apps like Google Maps send travellers in the wrong direction. Added that it is the state’s duty to provide security to citizens in every part of the country.

He called for the immediate arrest of those behind the attack, enforce strict legal punishment, and take effective measures to maintain peace across the country.
