King Charles III's security forms protective ring during Scotland visit
On Thursday in Scotland, King Charles‘ security team briefly stepped in during a public appearance, after a traditional handball game got a little too close for comfort.
The Britain Monarch was visiting Jedburgh in Roxburghshire as part of Royal Week, when he officially started the town’s centuries-old handba’ match, a tradition dating back to 1704. Within seconds of King Charles throwing the ball into the match, around 20 players rushed after it, which creates a hectic scene only a few feet from where he stood.
The action happened very close to the Britain King, his security officers quickly formed a protective circle around him and gently guided him backwards while the players wrestled for possession of the ball.

Despite the intense action nearby, King seemed totally at ease, in grey suit, standing like a smart gentleman and continued chatting with those around him. He jokingly asked the players where the “health and safety” was. One participant laughed and replied, “There is no health and safety here!”
Later, Charlie Young a Jethart Callants Club president said the King carefully enjoyed the event and was pleased by the irregular nature of the game. As per young statement Charles even mentioned that many years ago, Â he had played a similar version of the sport in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
The visit formed part of the royal family’s annual Royal Week in Scotland, during which King Charles and other senior royals attend engagements across the country. Earlier in the week, the King took part in ceremonies in Edinburgh before travelling to Jedburgh to celebrate one of Scotland’s oldest local traditions.
