Sheida Eslami Highlights the Cultural Vision and Legacy of Iran’s Leadership

Tehran-based writer and critic Sheida Eslami says Iran’s ancient civilization has long been a source of remarkable intellectual, philosophical, and artistic achievements. She notes that the country’s history has produced influential scholars, thinkers, and artists whose contributions have shaped cultural and intellectual traditions over centuries.
Eslami writes that, following the Islamic Revolution, Iran witnessed significant growth in science, technology, and cultural activities, creating what she describes as an environment for intellectual development and artistic expression. She argues that this progress was closely connected to the vision and leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Martyred Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The Tehran-based writer and critic says that while political analyses of leaders often focus on governance, foreign policy, and structures of power, cultural influence is an important dimension that is sometimes overlooked. She highlights Ayatollah Khamenei’s engagement with cultural issues as a significant aspect of his public role.
According to Eslami, culture should not be viewed as a secondary field separate from politics and economics. She argues that culture forms the foundation of collective identity and plays a central role in shaping the direction and future of a society.
Eslami concludes that the importance placed on cultural development, knowledge, and intellectual growth reflects a broader vision of society in which ideas, creativity, and values contribute to national progress. She says the cultural dimension of leadership remains an important subject for understanding contemporary Iran.
