Iran Wins Three Golds, Two Silvers at International Physics Olympiad 2026

Iran’s national physics Olympiad team delivered an outstanding performance at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026), earning three gold medals and two silver medals at one of the world’s most prestigious science competitions. The event was held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from July 4 to 12, bringing together more than 400 top high school students from over 90 countries.
Hirbod Foudazi, Kian Zarabian, and Mohammad Mirmohammadi won gold medals for Iran, while Nima Koushki and Amirsam Goharpi claimed silver medals. Foudazi emerged as the overall top contestant after achieving the highest score in the theoretical examinations, making him the highest-ranked participant at IPhO 2026.
The team’s success reinforces Iran’s strong tradition in international scientific Olympiads and highlights the country’s continued excellence in global academic competitions. The achievement adds another milestone to Iran’s growing record of success in prestigious international science events.
