US Expands UAE Access to Advanced AI Technology

The United States has expanded the United Arab Emirates’ access to advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology, with the US Department of Commerce saying the move recognizes Abu Dhabi’s support for US national security objectives. According to the department, the expanded access includes advanced technologies with potential military applications.
The announcement follows the UAE’s involvement in US military operations during the conflict with Iran earlier this year. The Commerce Department said the decision acknowledges the UAE’s role in supporting regional security efforts, including maintaining the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz during the conflict.
According to media reports citing informed sources, the policy change will allow the UAE’s leading artificial intelligence company, G42, to purchase advanced AI chips from US firms, including Nvidia, more freely for at least the next nine months.
