Dar Urges Iranian FM to Build on Islamabad MoU Understandings
BASHKIK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
The two ministers reaffirmed the close and longstanding relations between Pakistan and Iran and discussed the changing regional situation.
Ishaq Dar expressed concern over recent tensions in the region and stressed the importance of dialogue, restraint, de-escalation and continued diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability. He also highlighted the need to build on the understandings reached under the Islamabad MoU of June 2026.
Foreign Minister Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic support and efforts for regional peace and security. He also thanked Pakistan for helping facilitate the safe return of Iranian fishermen and crew members, including those from vessels intercepted by the US.
The two sides agreed to continue close coordination and regular consultations on matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace, stability and shared prosperity.
