Iran’s President Dismisses Resignation Reports as Rumors

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected reports that he is considering resigning, calling them baseless rumors.

He also denied reports of differences with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Speaking in a television interview to mark two years of his administration, President Pezeshkian said he will remain in office and continue serving as president.

He said his government is working in full coordination with Iran’s armed forces.

Responding to questions about the resignation rumors, Pezeshkian said that if he ever decided to step down, he would announce it himself. He added that he has no intention of resigning.

The president also said some people are trying to create the false impression that there are disagreements between his administration and the Supreme Leader.

Earlier, Deputy Information Officer Mehdi Tabatabaei said political extremists were spreading false rumors to harm national unity and benefit Iran’s enemies.
