IRGC Commander Hails Mohsen Rezaei’s Appointment as SNSC Secretary

The commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has welcomed the appointment of veteran military strategist and politician Mohsen Rezaei as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), describing him as an experienced figure with a strategic and forward-looking vision. In a message issued on Monday, the IRGC commander congratulated Rezaei on his appointment and on being designated as the representative of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei to the SNSC.
The IRGC chief highlighted Rezaei’s extensive experience in both military and political affairs, saying his presence at the SNSC could strengthen strategic coordination between the battlefield and diplomacy. He said Rezaei’s experience could also contribute to advancing Iran’s political and economic security while pursuing an approach centered on resistance and hope.
The commander particularly praised Rezaei’s 16-year tenure as commander of the IRGC, including his leadership during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War. He also pointed to Rezaei’s role in establishing the IRGC Intelligence Organization, his 24-year service as secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, his tenure as vice president for economic affairs and his contribution to drafting Iran’s long-term national vision plan.
According to the IRGC commander, Rezaei’s record across these sensitive positions demonstrates his ability to manage complex strategic challenges facing Iran. He expressed confidence that Rezaei’s appointment would help strengthen coordination among the country’s security, military, diplomatic and economic institutions, adding that the IRGC stands ready to fully cooperate in advancing the objectives of the Leader during Rezaei’s tenure.
