Shahood Alvi’s Remarks About Housewives Spark Social Media Backlash

Pakistan’s veteran actor Shahood Alvi faces online backlash after making scandalous remarks about housewives during a recent television appearance.

The ‘Judwa’ actor appeared on the TV show hosted by Nida Yaris along with Leyla Zuberi and Fahima Awan, where all the star discussing about husband and wives relationship, and Shahood views about why some husbands may lose interest in their wives led him towards controversy.

As per his remarks, women may sometimes smell of ginger and garlic while cooking food at home, on the other hand their husbands spend time at offices around women wearing perfumes. His comments fueled a sturdy reaction from viewers on social media.

Shahood also noted that spending unwarranted time on the phone may build complications in a marriage. He recommended wives to make an effort for their husbands by cooking their favorite food and getting dressed before they return home.

Participating in the discussion, Leyla Zuberi shared a similar outlook, explaining that dressing up for one’s husband has traditionally been considered a nice sign. She remembered longsighted her mother apply lipstick before her father back from work. Fahima Awan also agreed that women could make an effort to look well-dressed when their husbands come home.

While sharing his view, Shahood also spoke about household responsibilities he had encouraged his wife to learn, including paying bills, grocery shopping and driving. He said she did not learn these skills and jokingly referred to her as a “dheet haddi.” He also recalled actress Bushra Ansari advising his wife not to learn driving because it could lead to additional responsibilities, such as taking their children to school.

Clips from the show soon went viral, with many viewers criticizing Shahood’s comments. One person wrote, “This thinking is the issue!!!”. Another suggested, “Hiring a cook or housemaid is a best solution.”

A different comment pointed to the lack of outdoor time for housewives, saying, “They don’t get sunlight, they are indoors so their energy levels drop by the time they are done doing house chores.”

The work front of Shahood Alvi is, he is a well-known Pakistani actor and director who began his entertainment industry career as a boom machinist at PTV before poignant into acting. He has performed in dramas including Makan, Mera Saaein, Dunk, Nanhi, Meri Beti, Ghisi Piti Mohabbat and Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha.
