Paramount+ Set to Bring Horror Classic Back in Summer 2027
The cult classic Possession originally released in 1981 is returning with a new Paramount+ remake, scheduled to hit theaters on June 11, 2027. The movie is scheduled for a box-office clash with Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2, which is also arriving that weekend.
Parker Finn of Smile fame will write and direct the remake, with Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley playing the roles made famous by Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani.
The original film tells the story of a spy whose wife flinches acting remarkably after she asks him to end their marriage, with Andrzej Żuławski directing. As the story discloses, it takes an upsetting paranormal fit. The Cold War-era psychosomatic horror received Isabelle Adjani the Best Actress prize at Cannes. Regardless of its modest box-office act, the film later established a tough cult succeeding.
The new version also features Diego Calva, Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen, Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Paul Dano.
Along with Jonathan Fass, Roy Lee, Andrew Childs and Robert Pattinson, Finn is producing the film. He has said that Possession is one of his greatest favorite movies and optimisms the fresh description will domain its intensity while getting something fresh to the story.
Parker Finn shot to distinction with Smile in 2022. The horror movie was a box-office achievement, earning around $217 million internationally against a $17 million budget. He also focused its 2024 sequel.
