Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again invited the opposition to resolve outstanding political issues through meaningful and constructive dialogue.
Addressing a federal cabinet meeting, the prime minister said the government has always preferred dialogue and remains ready to engage with opposition parties in a purposeful manner.
He stressed that political issues should be addressed through discussion and consultation, while the government remains committed to finding solutions through constructive engagement.
Speaking about economic relief, Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed the reduction in diesel prices and said government efforts had contributed to a Rs32 reduction in petrol prices.
He said providing relief to the common people remains the government’s top priority, particularly at a time when Pakistan is facing the effects of challenging global economic conditions.
The prime minister also highlighted the impact of the international situation on Pakistan’s energy sector. He noted that several countries in the region were witnessing the closure of refineries and chemical plants, while Pakistan continues to rely heavily on imported energy.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also called for strengthening Parliament and ensuring that its standing committees play an effective role in the country’s democratic process.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Bilawal said the PPP has always respected Parliament and believes that the institution must be made more effective.
He urged opposition parties to return to parliamentary standing committees and participate in the reform process, expressing hope that they would reconsider their decision.
Bilawal said electoral reforms require collective efforts as concerns regarding the electoral process are being raised by opposition parties, government allies and even members of the government.
He stressed that all political stakeholders have a responsibility to address concerns related to elections and said the reform process can move forward through parliamentary committees.
The statements from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlight a growing emphasis on political dialogue, parliamentary engagement and cooperation to address the country’s political and economic challenges.
