Mariyam Nafees Breaks Down Over Rising Violence Against Women and Children

A few days ago, five-year-old Ayat Noor went missing from Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police said several suspects were identified in connection with her disappearance, while three people were arrested. According to police, the suspects allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting the child before disposing of her body.

After nearly 15 days, Ayat’s body was recovered from a well at a warehouse on University Road. The heartbreaking case has sparked anger and grief across the country, with people demanding strict action against those responsible and stronger measures to protect women and children from violence.

Several celebrities have also spoken out about the rising cases of violence. Actress Mariyam Nafees shared an emotional video in which she spoke about the repeated cases involving women and children.

Fighting back tears, Mariyam said that one case becomes a trending hashtag today, only to be replaced by another tragic story the next day. She mentioned Ayat Noor’s case along with several other cases involving women and children and questioned whether anyone was actually taking action.
