Air India Faces Worst Crisis, Modi’s Development Claims Exposed

Air India is facing a serious crisis, with passenger confidence affected by safety concerns, falling passenger numbers and regional tensions.

According to the British newspaper The Independent, rebuilding the trust of Indian and British passengers became difficult for Air India after the deadly crash in 2025. Several negative reports about the airline’s safety standards after the crash further increased concerns among travellers.

British aviation analytics company Cirium said changes in passenger behaviour on Air India flights between India and the UK reflected growing concerns about the airline.

Aviation expert Sanjay Lazar said India’s aviation sector had faced serious challenges during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure.

The Independent reported that Air India passenger numbers fell by 11% in August 2025 and by 19% in September 2025. In April 2026, passenger numbers were around 27% lower than in April 2025.

Analysts linked the recent problems in Indian aviation to geopolitical tensions and the closure of Pakistani airspace.

The difficulties facing Air India and the wider Indian aviation sector have raised further questions about the country’s aviation management and the government’s development claims.
