Iran Claims Missile, Drone Attacks on US Bases in Iraq, Key Facilities Destroyed
Iran has claimed that its armed forces carried out missile and drone attacks on US military bases in Erbil, Iraq, damaging important military and technical facilities.
According to Iranian state media, Iranian forces targeted US military positions in Erbil with missiles and drones.
Iranian officials claimed that the attacks destroyed a maintenance centre used to repair military equipment. They also said warehouses containing technical equipment were damaged.
Iran’s armed forces further claimed that a system used to guide and control a surveillance balloon was also damaged in the attacks.
Iranian state media said more details about the damage to US military facilities could emerge later. However, there was no immediate information about any casualties among US military personnel.
Erbil is the capital of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region and is an important location for the US military presence in the area. US forces and facilities in Erbil have been targeted by missile and drone attacks in the past.
