Iran Warns US: ‘Surprise’ Coming Soon as New Strategy Takes Shape

Iran’s New Security Chief Warns Neighbours as US Tightens Pressure on Tehran
TEHRAN: Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei has warned the United States that Tehran is preparing a new strategy following the latest attacks, saying Washington will soon face its consequences across the military, diplomatic and economic fronts.
According to international media reports, Rezaei said in a post on social media platform X that the current efforts by the United States would not help it escape what he described as a crisis created by its own actions.
He said Iran was preparing to change its approach to defence and retaliation and would adopt a new strategy covering multiple fronts.
Rezaei said the new Iranian strategy would not be limited to the battlefield. Tehran would also strengthen its diplomatic efforts and take measures to confront economic pressure and sanctions.
According to the Iranian official, the new approach would have a significant impact on US interests and could fundamentally change the nature of the confrontation.
He warned that Washington would soon begin to see the effects of Iran’s new strategy.
Rezaei’s warning comes after the United States carried out another series of attacks against targets associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, causing casualties and damage, according to Iranian authorities.
US President Donald Trump said the strikes were carried out in response to Iranian military activity around the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran subsequently responded by targeting US positions and facilities in Jordan, while Tehran also warned Gulf countries against allowing their territory or military bases to be used to support American operations.
The latest developments have further increased pressure around the Strait of Hormuz, where maritime traffic remains severely disrupted.
Two oil tankers reportedly caught fire in the waterway after being struck by projectiles from an unidentified direction, adding to concerns over the safety of commercial shipping.
Despite Trump’s repeated claims that the United States has gained control over the Strait of Hormuz, maritime traffic through the strategic waterway remains at extremely low levels.
The Strait is a vital route for global energy supplies, meaning any prolonged disruption could have significant consequences for international oil markets and global trade.
Rezaei’s latest remarks suggest that Tehran intends to broaden its response beyond direct military operations.
Iran is expected to focus simultaneously on military preparedness, diplomatic engagement and economic measures as it seeks to counter continued US pressure.
The warning comes as the confrontation between Iran and the United States enters another tense phase, with further military action carrying the risk of wider regional escalation.
For Washington, the possibility of Iran adopting a broader strategy could create new challenges across the military, diplomatic and economic fronts.
