September 1965 War, Day Nine: Pakistan Forces Defeat Indian Forces on Three Fronts
The ninth day of the September 1965 war saw Pakistan Army forces claim major victories on three fronts against Indian forces.
Near Narowal, Pakistani troops strongly defended the Jasur Bridge and inflicted heavy losses on Indian forces. Lieutenant Kaleem Mahmood embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely.
Pakistani forces also attacked an Indian engineering team at a western position in Sona Marg, causing heavy losses.
According to the account, Pakistan Air Force fighters destroyed Indian aircraft at Pathankot and Jodhpur air bases. Pakistani pilots reportedly destroyed 28 Indian aircraft in the air, two with anti-aircraft guns, 36 aircraft on the ground, and another 15 aircraft at Kalaikunda Air Base.
The account says India faced pressure on all fronts, while Indian forces were forced to retreat.
During the 1965 war, Pakistani officers and soldiers displayed great courage and bravery and wrote new chapters of sacrifice and heroism.
