September 1965 War: Pakistan Forces Push Back Indian Troops on Day 10

On the 10th day of the September 1965 war, Pakistani forces launched a strong counterattack and forced Indian troops to retreat from the Kasur sector.

The Pakistani Army’s counteroffensive caused heavy losses to Indian forces trying to advance from Jammu towards Sialkot.

The Pakistan Air Force destroyed Indian naval and air bases at Dwarka and Jamnagar. The Indian Navy was reportedly angered by the defeat of its air force.

Near the Lahore sector, Pakistani forces shot down two Indian warplanes with small arms fire.

On the Sialkot front, Pakistani forces destroyed seven more Indian Centurion tanks, bringing the total number of destroyed Indian tanks in the sector to 42.

Mujahideen also destroyed strong Indian military positions at Maralabad in the Dras sector.

The Pakistan Navy’s dominance in the Arabian Sea forced the Indian Navy to halt its activities in the area.

Pakistani fighter jets also shot down an aircraft that had come to support Indian forces while it was still in the skies over Lahore.

During the September war, Pakistani forces continued to inflict heavy defeats on Indian troops on different fronts.
