Hillary Clinton Calls Trump ‘Olympic Champion of Lying’

WASHINGTON: Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has launched a blistering attack on President Donald Trump, calling him the “Olympic champion of lying” and accusing his statements and policies of putting American personnel in the Middle East at greater risk.
Speaking in an interview with a US news channel, Clinton said Trump lies about almost every issue and argued that his statements were having real consequences for American military personnel.
She said Trump’s actions and rhetoric were affecting the lives of US soldiers, Air Force personnel, Marines and other American personnel stationed in the Middle East.
The former secretary of state also argued that US actions were making Iran stronger rather than weakening it.
Clinton said the United States had failed to learn important lessons from its experience over the past 25 years, suggesting that repeated military interventions and pressure campaigns had produced unintended consequences.
She questioned whether Washington’s current approach was actually improving American security or instead creating conditions that could benefit Iran strategically.
Clinton further alleged that Iran was seeking to undermine American defence capabilities with support from China and Russia.
According to the former secretary of state, Tehran was taking advantage of cooperation with the two countries to develop strategies aimed at weakening the United States’ military position.
Her comments come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran and growing debate in the United States over the military, economic and strategic consequences of the confrontation.
The remarks from Clinton add to criticism of the Trump administration from within the American political establishment, particularly over the risks to US forces and the broader impact of Washington’s policy toward Iran.
