Pakistan’s Ambassador-Designate to China Calls on Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to China, Ali Asad Gilani, called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar to discuss bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Ishaq Dar congratulated Ambassador-designate Gilani on his appointment and underscored the special importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding and time-tested relationship with China.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the need to further deepen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries across a wide range of areas.

Key areas highlighted during the meeting included trade and investment, regional connectivity, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), agriculture, science and technology, education and people-to-people exchanges.

Ishaq Dar also appreciated Ali Asad Gilani’s services as Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that Gilani’s diplomatic experience and understanding of the region would contribute to further strengthening Pakistan-China relations during his tenure in Beijing.

He wished the ambassador-designate success in his new assignment and expressed hope that his tenure would help expand bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further consolidating its strategic partnership with China and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
