Nation Pays Tribute to September 1965 War Martyrs

The nation pays tribute to the martyrs of the September 1965 war, who made great sacrifices while defending the country.

On the 11th day of the war, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rehman, Major Ziauddin Ahmed Abbasi and Lieutenant Hussain Shah were martyred while bravely fighting the enemy.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rehman was the commanding officer on the Sialkot front, where intense tank battles were fought. He was targeted by enemy fire and embraced martyrdom. In recognition of his bravery, he was awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat posthumously.

Major Ziauddin Ahmed Abbasi was also deployed in Sialkot, where Indian forces had launched a major attack and were planning to advance towards Wazirabad. He stood in the way of the enemy’s plans and his brave leadership caused heavy losses to the opposing forces. He was martyred after coming under enemy fire while standing on his tank. He was also awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat posthumously.

Lieutenant Hussain Shah also fought bravely against the enemy and embraced martyrdom. He was awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat posthumously in recognition of his courage.

The names of Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rehman, Major Ziauddin Ahmed Abbasi and Lieutenant Hussain Shah will always be remembered in the history of the September 1965 war.
