Constitutional Supremacy, Non-Discriminatory Justice Must Remain Priorities; FCC Chief Justice

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) Aminuddin Khan has emphasised that constitutional supremacy and equal access to justice must remain key priorities, saying strict adherence to the Constitution is essential for maintaining stability and the constitutional order.

Addressing a ceremony marking the beginning of the new judicial year in Islamabad, Justice Aminuddin Khan said the Constitution clearly defines the powers and limits of state institutions.

He stressed that every exercise of public authority must remain within the constitutional framework.

The FCC chief justice said the start of a new judicial year provided an opportunity to renew the judiciary’s commitment to delivering justice.

He emphasised that access to justice is a fundamental right of every citizen and called for constitutional justice to be ensured without discrimination.

Justice Khan said adherence to constitutional principles was essential for maintaining stability in society and protecting the constitutional system.

The chief justice highlighted the growing importance of modern technology in judicial affairs, saying digital tools could strengthen institutional capacity, efficiency and transparency.

He noted that the FCC had delivered several significant judgments within a relatively short period, describing the record as evidence of the court’s commitment to fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.

The Federal Constitutional Court was established following the passage of Pakistan’s 27th Constitutional Amendment in November 2025, which introduced major changes to the country’s judicial structure.

Justice Khan said the court was committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in its proceedings.

He added that case hearings and appointments were being managed through a transparent process to strengthen public confidence in the judicial system.

The FCC chief justice also stressed the fundamental importance of judicial independence, describing it as essential for any functioning democratic and constitutional system.

He said cooperation and engagement within the judicial sector were being strengthened through foreign visits and other professional activities.

Justice Khan also highlighted the importance of visits by bar associations and legal delegations to the FCC in promoting interaction and stronger institutional engagement with the legal community.

He reaffirmed that the Federal Constitutional Court would continue to discharge its constitutional responsibilities with determination and remain committed to the principles of constitutional supremacy, judicial independence and equal justice for all.
